$DIS $NFLX $WBD Wow finally a huge hit ! $$$$$ Lets go DISNEY head to $120 With Spider-Man: Brand New Day shattering box office records, Disney stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars through a lucrative two-pronged system of movie profit sharing and global retail control.1. The 25% Box Office Profit SplitUnder the current renegotiated partnership between the two studios, Disney co-finances 25% of the production costs and takes 25% of the net movie profits. The Scale: Given that the film is tracking for a massive $875 million global opening weekend, its final theater run is highly likely to clear well over $1 billion. The Cut: For a previous comparable hit like Spider-Man: No Way Home, the final net studio profit after marketing and expenses was immense; Disney's 25% share alone easily clears $150 million to $200 million+ just from the theatrical window and subsequent home entertainment releases
$PSKY $NFLX $WBD As far as Netflix's continued meddling in the PSKY/WBD merger is concerned, and the way California's proposed expansion of the Cartwright Act AB1776 has been drafted, seems to prove to me that Netflix is well aware that they are completely dependent on licensing content to keep their dynasty going, and has enlisted state regulators to create laws designed to keep the flow of licensed content from being shut off. I Can't believe nobody is calling out that Reed Hastings wife's Super Pac has given 400k to Bonta alone. Now Bonta is crafting AB 1776 to protect Netflix's life blood. Can you imagine being forced to provide your enemies ammunition in a war?
$PSKY $WBD 7/31/2026 Paramount Pitches Judge On November Start Of WBD Merger Antitrust Trial, While State AGs & WGA Propose April ** In the filing Friday, Paramount proposed a 12-day trial starting November 4 that would encompass the cases brought by the states and the WGA. Paramount also noted that the later date would give the judge “much less time to decide” the case by June, the outside date it had set for the merger to close, as well as time for the company to appeal. ** The state AGs and WGA proposed a start of April 5, 2027, lasting at least 12-15 days, with each plaintiff presenting their cases sequentially. The states also contended that their schedule was “reasonable,” claiming that the 402 days from the signing of the merger agreement on February 27 to the proposed trial date “moves this case to trial more rapidly than virtually every merger case in recent history.” https://deadline.com/2026/07/paramount-warner-bros-lawsuit-trial-date-1237014622/
Warner Bros. Discovery rallied Friday, while Paramount also moved higher after The Wall Street Journal reported that California Governor Gavin Newsom has privately expressed growing concern over the state's antitrust lawsuit seeking to block Paramount Skydance's proposed $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. According to the report, Newsom believes preventing the deal could result in significant job losses in California's entertainment industry. Sources familiar with the matter said the governor's office has encouraged California Attorney General Rob Bonta to pursue a negotiated settlement rather than continue the legal battle in an effort to preserve employment. Despite the reported pressure, Newsom has no formal role in the litigation and no authority to direct the attorney general, whose office operates independently under California law. As a result, it remains uncertain whether Bonta will alter the state's legal strategy. $WBD $PSKY
